Most Math books recommend teaching for about half the class and then let students work some problems in class. I find this works well, it allows questions and the class becomes interactive. I encourge questions while I am introducing a subject and find it gives me a chance to use different examples to get a poinnt across. Any assignments I give outside the classroom can be addressed in the next class. I started teaching right out of college. Taught high school and college part time for 6 years. Left teaching for the computer business where I worked for 36 years. Retired from HP in 2001. Went back to teaching. I taught at Mount Royal Academy in Sunapee, NH for 7 years. I taught College Algebra and Pre-Calculus at River Valley Community College i Keene, presently as an Adjunct faculty member.

My career in education includes a wide range of experience. I began as a substitute teacher covering for classroom teachers ranging from preschool to the 12th grade. My innate teaching abilities became evident and I was highly sought after. Returning to college to earn my teaching certification, I gained experience in special education teaching summer school. I student taught 3rd and 4th grade, then was hired to teach 5th grade which I did for 2 years. Returning to my love of special education, my taught for another 3 years. During this time, I successfully tutored many students in language arts, math and social studies. Due to my background and experience in behavorial science, my warm personality and sense of humor, students quickly learn to trust me; thus the learning begins. My analytical insights and assessments of each student's learning style including their strengths and we

I have a passion for teaching but waited until I gained some "real world" experience. I found that this has helped me relate to my students since I am able to make meaningful connections to their learning. I like to discover what my students already know about the topic and to expose any misconceptions. Brainstorming activities work well for me. I like to help define the topic in common terms, not the classic dictionary method. I use presentation, discussion, videos and hands on activities. Most of what I do is inquiry based.

I have been a substitute teacher at the Inter Lake elementary school for over four years. I have owned a Math and Reading Center for 12 years from 1992 to July of 2005. I have worked with preschool to high school levels. It was an after school program. I have experience with students in all different levels of Math and Reading. I enjoy working with small groups. I would like to help children in mastering basic skills. I am creative, nurturing and most of all, patient. I love teaching and working with different age groups. I believe in " Back to basis". I also believe in repetition in order to acheive their goals. My previous experience was that if we give children a concrete foundation in early age, will eventually all children can meet their potential goals. I strongly believe that I can make different children's future as well as education. I have a patient and I take my job very seri

I am a retired District Manager for Verizon. I taught High School Math for three years, then tutored high school math for four. I have recently "retired" my state certification (NH) for Secondary Education in Mathematics. I am currently an Adjunct Math Instructor at Hesser College, a division of Kaplan. My teaching style is informal , taking the students from "where they are" to "where they should be". I have had good results tutoring and teaching students from the Middle-School through the Adult levels. My greatest satisfaction comes when math-challenged students finally "see the light".

One way to inspire a student in these fields is to touch their sense of awe and amazement, another is to instill an appreciation for the usefulness and practicality of what is being taught. With either approach, it is helpful to gain an understanding of the student's interests, attitudes and learning style. Young people are looking for adults they can trust as mentors, and I find my personal interest in them and my enthusiasm for what I am teaching combine to support their learning process. Learning is a great opportunity to build personal confidence. I love young people, adolescents in particular, and find tremendous satisfaction in their intellectual development. I've had a deep enthusiasm for mathematics and physics since an early age, when my father, a professor of physics at Dartmouth College, introduced me to the beauty and elegance of the principles underlying these fields. My teaching style is simple but effective. With mathematics and physics, the student retains an idea, with the added benefit of a solid intuition if he or she is fortunate enough to work through a problem using his or her's own insights. Guiding the student with the systematic offering of penetrating questions seems to be one of the most powerful methods to aid in the understanding of mathematical and physical phenomena. I have been a physics and mathematics tutor for my fellow students at the University of Waterloo, in Waterloo, Ontario. Also, I served as a physics T.A. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before I transferred to Waterloo. Finally, I was a substitute teacher for two years at Belmont Middle School and Belmont High School, in Belmont, New Hampshire.

I started out working as a Head Start teacher's assistant and the following year I was promoted to Head Start teacher and manager. I have also worked as a 1:1 instructional assistant with a high needs student. Currently I worked in a behavior school as an instructional assistant, and I have stepped in to plan curriculum and teach all the classes because the teacher has been on paid leave this year. I also have been commuting to college in Castleton State College from Springfield after work to complete my degree in education. I have been able to keep my GPA at a 3.8 which I believe demonstrates my ability to multitask effectively. I find working with children rewarding. I am patent and understanding and cater to individual learning styles. I use my artistic sense to help students visually understand learning. I believe the key to understanding and learning is to make learning fun and memo

As an average person, I enjoy teaching children the values and importance of their education while befriending them and understanding where they are in relation to their social-emotional, physical, and educational development. No two children are the same, and we know that this is correct, so therefore it applies to their learning ability as well. Some children need visual simulation to really ingrain the principle that is trying to be understood. While other's learn by complete repetition. My teaching style is all relative to the child and the subject area being covered.

I earned a BS in Aeronautics and have completed some graduate work in aerodynamics and meteorology. In addition to having given approximately 3000 hours of instruction in aviation subjects, I have authored several textbooks on aircraft design and construction. I've been both a research pilot and a captain on a cargo airline. My teaching style is straightforward - proceed from the simple to the complex. It appears most subjects require this approach. I find it both helpful and important to try and relate situations encountered in day-to-day life to the specific subject problems.

Ever since I was in high school, I have always enjoyed working with children in a variety of situations. I helped out in a second grade classroom and enjoyed helping students understand their classwork. Even in college, I enjoyed helping my friends with math and writing. Last year, I taught a self-contained sixth grade classroom and this year, I taught a multi-age first and second grade classroom in the same school. My creativity allows me to come up with different teaching ideas depending on the child's needs. Differentiated instruction has helped me to reach the needs of all learners and positive reinforcement has helped to motivate students to want to do well. I believe that the social aspect of a child's life is just as important as the academics. Once these needs are met, children are more apt to reach their fullest potential.

My teaching experience spans college freshmen physics to middle school math. I converted to education after 20 years as a materials engineer in a number of industrial manufacturing companies. I have completed a state certified certificate program and did my student teaching in physics at a local high school. I am most experienced with secondary students grades 9-12 but have recently tutored college math, physics and chemistry students. I have BS and MS degrees in engineering. I have taught in both public schools and a school for multiple handicapped children. I am also experienced with high achieving physics students. I believe in learning through experience, and finding a venue that the learner understands to set the experience. I also believe in test taking , essentialist philosophy, because test taking to demonstrate comprehension is necessary to communicate understanding and a

I enjoy helping students reach their full potential. I am respectful and considerate of each student. My teaching style consists of a combination of direct instruction and guided discovery. Each student learns at a different rate. I provide the appropriate methods of instruction for academic success. A have a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with minors in education and chemistry. My understanding of science has been strengthened by completing 30 graduate credits in biology related fields and 23 graduate credits in chemistry.
