I love tutoring and mentoring kids, period. It's spiriturally rewarding to me as an adult to have a part in a child's development. I believe every child is special. I began tutoring as a volunteer with the America Reads program in high school. I continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club during college. After an opportunity to assist a professor in administering a freshman course, I applied to teach high school in Pasco County. I taught world history and psychology for one year before returning to school for my Master of Arts degree in History. I continued tutoring on the side, but spent most of my time assisting professors in the Department of History at Winthrop University as a Graduate Assistant where I edited exams and papers for undergraduate students. I graduated with an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina in May of 2010. Directly after graduating, I began a career as an Academic Advisor in the Moore School of Business Undergraduate Division at the University of South Carolina. I currently still hold this job. I also taught a University 101 course to 25 incoming freshmen in the Fall of 2010. I enjoy teaching and enjoy sharing my knowledge with everyone. Everyone can learn and I believe some learn different than others. I believe in patience and different teaching styles. I went back to college to pursue a career in education. While in college I tutored basic math skills to college students and worked with middle school students under a grant program called GEAR UP.
