A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching for me is a calling. My reward is watching my students grow academically and socially. As a lifelong learner, I seek to ignite a spark for self-discovery in my students' lives. I have experienced firsthand how the arts have helped children grow, providing them with academic and personal success. I know that with the right evironment, structure, and guidance, a child is able to reach for and exceed their potential. As a music therapist, I learned to apply my creativity to design instruction that allows the learner to be actively and successfully engaged in learning. As a special educator, I learned to quickly problem-solve if a support strategy is not successful. I've worked with students with all levels of learning challenges (those with and without formal disability labels) and can help each learner become confident in their abilities.I understand how teachers are trained, keep current with research, and know how schools function structurally, which helps me think about where things may break down for the individual learner. A Little Bit About Me...

I posess a Bachelors Degree in Finance and a Masters Degree in Education. I have been able to successfully combine these two areas in school environments as well as corporate environments. The students that I have taught, tutored and mentored varied in age, educational level, and ability. I have always tried to match my teaching style to the learning styles of my students. I have tried to individualize instruction as much as possible. I have taught various areas of Business to apply to many different venues. I believe a good teacher creates an environment where students are motivated to be productive and are eager to learn.
