I currently teach four sections of general biology lab and two sections of comparative anatomy lab. Each method is different, and I have been able to learn and work through each of them. I am confident in my ability to concentrate learning through cooperative groups, presentations, direct instructions, problem based and discovery topics, concept lessons, and disscusions. As a high school German exchange student and subsequent German major, I have more than textbook knowledge of the German language. My fluency comes from real-world interactions as well as attending a German high school. I taught courses at the University of Richmond for students of German wishing to practice their language skills, yet whose competency may not have been to the standard for a traditional literature class. Furthermore, I received an International Baccalaureate Diploma with high marks for my high school subjects (concentrations in Music History and Theory, German Language, English Literature, and European History). I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject.
