A Little Bit About Me...

I hold a current certification in Business Education, grades 6-12. I work in a high school alternative setting, my students may be diploma bound or they make be working toward taking the GED. I have been teaching Professional Development classes at McNeese State University for the past 11 years. Those classes include MS Word (varying levels), MS Powerpoint (varying levels), MS Access (varying levels, and Beginning Windows.
I've experienced continued success with my teaching strategies which I have to vary hourly due to the diversity of the student population I work with. I am happy to offer individual training or will work with a group as large as 20.

Spelling is one of my top subjects!

Child Psychology and Developmental Psychology is what I studied and will continue to study when I go for my Masters Degree. Spelling and Grammar have been my strong point since I can remember starting school. Typing is going to be a big deal in the future and I think every individual should have this quality. I have been practicing for a very long time and I am up to at least 50 words per minute.

I prefer one-on-one work with the students that stresses not simple correction or copy editing but legitimate comprehension on the part of my charges. My teaching style is comprehensive and rigorous and requires serious involvement and passion on the student's part. I do not hand-hold and I do not coddle but I am not uncaring: students learn best from experience, and that's something I can provide.
I have worked in a number of positions that have required me to teach and train, whether that be as an instructor at a local radio station who was responsible for preparing DJs to broadcast or a tutor in Hong Kong who was responsible for developing the English skills of a number of non-native speakers at all levels. My experience is backed up by my certification to teach English as a second language and a track record as somebody who writes at a professional level.
