In undergrad, I was somewhat of a perfectionist looking for a way to help others. I found that being a tutor and a supplemental instructor allowed me to help others in ways I could never imagine. I became a California Reading and Learning Certified tutor and supplemental instructor in 2008 with a program called the Center for Academic Success at the small liberal arts college I was attending and recieved students asking for help in classes including english, college writing seminars, chemistry, and math. As a result of my help, the students' grades raised from F's to A's, B's and C's over time. I loved helping them and they appreciated me helping them.

I received my bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I then moved to the University of Kansas where I completed a masters in Biochemistry and Biophysics. During this time I was a graduate teaching assistant for two years. I taught science labs including biochemistry I lab (2 semesters), biochemistry II lab (1 semester), and physiology lab (2 semesters). I also assisted in teaching biochemistry lecture. My degrees show that I have a strong background in science but to be a good biochemist you have to understand many different subjects. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently am a substitute teacher for all grades from 1st grade to high school. I started this avocation after spending 27 years in the Finance and Accounting areas. I have an MBA from the University of Kansas. One of the gifts God has given me is the ability to help others reach their potential. When teaching, I am quite often able to explain difficult subjects to students in a way that is easier for them to understand.
I believe that if a student wants to learn a subject and is willing to put forth the effort, that student has the tools to succeed. Quite often they just need help in "how" to learn. There are a lot of subjects that are intimidating to students. I like to demystify and simplify the subject so that the student has a greater chance for success.
