My comments on tutoring English ESOL : Have tutored some international students with their English papers

I teach to cater every student’s needs and their learning modality (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic). I tailor each lesson according to the student’s previous background or current level. For children, I make each lesson enjoyable by incorporating games that foster learning.

I have been involved in offering educational services since I was in high school, when I tutored younger students in math, Spanish, research writing, and general elementary subjects. A career in education was a natural choice, and I have taught both ESL and Spanish, with experience in elementary and secondary teaching, as well as teaching online.
Having taught small and large classes, as well as one-on-one, I am a firm believer in the benefit that one-on-one and small group instruction can offer for students. As a teacher, I love being able to identify and capitalize on students' interests and strengths. I like working with children and young people very much. I believe that teaching should always be student-centered. It is my goal to find what helps a person to learn and really work with that student's natural talent and personality. I am very patient and persistent. If necessary, I think it is okay to repeat information until the student is comfortable and confident that they have learned it. I enjoy tutoring children one on one. Many children have difficulties in school because of low confidence levels, which are reinforced in the classroom by very little individual attention. I believe the more comfortable a child feels in her/his learning environment, the easier she/he will learn. As a tutor, I try to ease academic pressure by developing a relaxed, supportive relationship with the student. I emphasize the positive, stronger aspects of their work, and attempt to highlight instances in which the child teaches me.
