I have been involved in higher education since my 2nd year of college. I also have been involved in helping local elementary, junior high, and high school students in the areas of the sciences, computer technology, and math. I would have taught high school but I found higher ed to be more interesting. I have a BS in Biology with a minor in Computer Science. I also have a M.Ed. in Education Administration and Supervision with 17 graduate hours of Biology. I have worked for an after school program for the past five years. In this position I was able to tutor students and help them with their homework. The experience I have is with students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade. I did my student teaching in a preschool and a 2nd grade classroom. In the after school program and the student teaching experience I helped students with all school subjects including english, math, science, social studies and reading. I pride myself on helping students have fun while learning. I believe that if a student is not enjoying themselves they will not learn. After graduating in 1996, I opened my own tutoring service in Dickson, TN. I tutored individuals from public schools and home school in Math, Reading, and several other subjects needed until 2001. At this time I left Dickson and moved to Clarksville, TN and tutored with A+ Math tutoring intil 2006. Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I take each child as their own individual knowing they have their own needs in learning a subject. I teach in several different ways as to ensure the child grasps what they need. I see children today as my future for tomorrow, so helping them and making a difference in their lives will make a difference in mine. I have not forgotten any individual I have helped to this day.
