LOVE TO TEACH!!

I have a calm, loving environment in my classroom. I expect the best from my students and they never let me down. I play classical music during their work time and allow them to work in partners, groups, and individually daily. I also hold what I call "workshops" for students who need that extra help with the lesson I just taught. It seems so much nicer than to negatively call the students back to my table that "don't get it!!".

I have always had a passion to teach. I have been lucky enough to teach both children and adults. Before moving from Delaware to Atlanta, GA I taught kindergarten. It was rewarding and very fulfilling. When I lived in Atlanta I was fortunate to find an ESL position teaching children and adults. I was hooked! I try to identify the student's strengths and weaknesses and work out a program to help him or her achieve his or her goals. Many children struggle with classroom learning because they require a different learning method than the one being offered or more direct attention than a teacher of 20+ students can offer. As a dyslexia therapist I was instructed in a number of different approaches to teaching and how to match each one to an individual student's needs. A Little Bit About Me...

Young children learn best through things that have meaning to them. For example, I once tutored a child that had difficulty learning his multiplication tables, but was an avid NASCAR fan. I taught him the sums of multiplication problems by using the numbers on the drivers cars. He learned that the sum of 6x4, and 4x6 was equal to Jeff Gordon's number, which was 24. We did that with every car in NASCAR and people were amazed at how quickly he learned his multiplication tables. Multiplication tables became a breeze to him. I have used similar principals teaching phonics, and reading to young children. I also, have a history of being patient and understanding with elementary aged children.

I would say my teaching style is more relaxed. I believe this helps one see students weaknesses and strengths better. It also allows one to compare the overall effect of teaching for each student. When I see a student falling behind then thats when I take action and try top get them where they should be in that area.
My experience is one that has taken me many different places to meet many diffrent people. I have always had a gift of helping others and conveying to them my knowledge. I obtained my BA in English Communication from Talladega College and also i have a minor in History. I have had a great deal of expereince in writng papers, essays, articles ,and reports.
