I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. I am a discussion based teacher. I prefer to engage the students higher level thinking with a questioning approach. I do not think that lecture or rote memorization are proper ways to educate a child. I believe that teachers affect a students learning not just through the subject but also through the real world examples that should be the core of all learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and tutoring children of all ages. Although I have only formally been tutoring for about 6 years, I was a tutor all through my childhood helping other children learn when I finished with my classwork. Since first grade I have always wanted to be a teacher, although my brain tried to steer me in a different direction in college. Yet, my heart brought me back to teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

I approach every student as a unique individual with his or her own struggles. In general, I teach mathematics in a direct and simple way. I do not treat the subject as a game or a bag of tricks. I like working with children of all ages. I believe that children of all ages and cultural backgrounds can learn if given a proper chance. I even managed to teach children in South Korea, when I didn't speak Korean at all and my students had limited English skills. I taught them through games and use of our workbooks and student books. I believe in making learning a fun experience with lots of games and an easy going manner. If the kid is bored or unhappy, it is going to make it much harder for the child to learn.
