My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I have completed bachelors in engineering inducing a minor in mathematics. I have a good understanding of this material!

I have gone through many math courses, including higher level math courses (complex variables, numerical methods, linear algebra ll) during college. I know how to teach students to learn and understand math material so they can walk into a test and apply that knowledge. I also have experience solving engineering problems and using different methods to solve those problems, such as numerical methods.
I like to explain the mathematical concepts I am teaching. I most like to help those that are having a difficulty understanding the material, rather than those that need the answer to one or two problems. I do not mind repeating myself and like to help the student learn.

My goal is to help you achieve success.

I focus on helping you understand the concepts, rather than memorizing, and explaining the difficult concepts with the use of simple and good examples. I can also help you with your homework and practice tests/exams. I can also guide you on how to, what to study and where to start, etc, after learning what your instructor is focused on in class.
I had the master's degrees in chemistry (Texas A&M University) and chemical engineering (UC Santa Barbara, top-ranked chemical engineering department). I had 4 years of teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant at Texas A&M University. I tutored students while I was in college. I have been tutoring whenever my schedule permits. You can see my profile and students' reviews on my tutoring at the www.UniversityTutor.com (College station/Bryan) website.

My preferred method of teaching is hands-on, through real experiments. Unfortunately, experiments cannot always be done, so I use lots of illustrations and age-appropriate analogies that are easy to relate to. Many times students are convinced that science is a subject too difficult to conquer, that they must just survive it, but science is all around us. I strive for that "a-ha" moment when a student realizes that all biological and physiological processes are interrelated and that the trick to understanding science is to build on previously learned concepts. I believe that teaching solid fundamentals and relating more difficult topics to already learned information is key to helping students thoroughly understand the subject.
Throughout my undergraduate years, I was recognized as an outstanding student and held the maximum number of teaching assistant positions every semester ... read more

I love helping students understand concepts that seem 100% foreign to them. I teach mostly geared towards visual learners. I tend to use visual and real life examples to push my students to grasp the concepts for themselves. I prefer to make them do the work and answer questions as we move forward. I do not believe students should just be given answers. They should be given the tools to answer the questions for themselves.
I have taught for 3 years at Sam Houston State University for the Department of Chemistry. As a high school student I tutored off and on for around 4 years. I am currently working on my Master's in chemistry at SHSU.
