My comments on tutoring French : Took two years of it and have a great grasp on vocabulary and usage skills. As in the courses.

I love mathematics, I am not going to deny it. I find it to be one of the most thrilling subjects out there. I can understand why so many people dislike it. I work with each student in the way that is best for their particular learning styles. I prefer a laid-back approach to learning, allowing students to understand at their own pace and make connection on their own. This does not mean, however, that I do not have high expectations for my students.
I hold two bachelor degrees, a BA in French Language and Literature and a BS in Microbiology. I also have a certificate in African Studies and a minor in Chemistry. I taught for one year as a Title 1 teacher for grades 3 - 6 for English and Math and I taught French for two years and I tutored Arabic in a church for young learners.I also worked as an assistant teacher at Gilmour Academy in the Montessori school. I also did tutor French and Arabic for private learners.
I use a lot of visuals, repetition, and I yes/no questions, and them move on to either/or quetions. I always keep my students alert and interested through lots of fun games and communication one -to one or through cooperative groups in a larger setting.

Making the learning session interactive makes a world of difference in teaching a language, and I find that incorporating play-acting into a learning session excites and motivates the student. Using the list of vocabulary words and rules of grammer the student is currently in the process of learning, I like to create a scenario with the student, stand up and walk away from the table, and pretend that we are actually at the dentist, the grocery store, etc. I also like to use topics that relate to the student's age and environment, thereby make the language 'real' to them.
