I have 16 years of teaching experience. I taught 1st grade in Charles County Public Schools in Waldorf, Maryland for 2 1/2 years. I taught Kindergarten in Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, Virginia for 4 years. I taught 1st grade in Round Rock Independent School District for 2 years and then transferred to the position of Interventionist for 7 years where I worked with struggling learners and students with Dyslexia. I adhere to Gardener's Multiple Intelligences, which states that each student possesses certain intelligences and that using a students' strengths improves their achievement. Each student has individual needs, that when nurtured, will allow the student to realize his potential. Students learn differently in different environments, and as an educator, I believe a student learns best when in a comfortable environment, especially with new or challenging material. Most importantly, it is my goal to help students become individual learners and thinkers, to teach them not only content but how to help themselves as well.
