I graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans, La., where I was a tutor for the Saturday Science Academy. In the program, I was responsible for following a strict lesson plan designed to prepare the students for the yearly LEAP Exam, which is equivalent to the Memphis City School's TCAP. I focused on students in grades fourth and fifth in mathematics and reading comprehension. I received a bachelors degree from The University of Memphis in integrative studies in the fall of 2009. Upon graduation, I was required to complete two semesters of student teaching. Also, during my four years of college, I tutored three different students, one in reading and the other two in English. From August 2009 through January 2011, I was employed at a child care facility where I was director but spent most of my time tutoring and assisting the after school kids with their homework and projects.
