I have been teaching and tutoring in all levels of math for many years. I am a licensed teacher in the State of Indiana. I especially enjoy working with students one on one or in small groups because it is easy to see how they think and find out where they need the most help. I am now retired with over 30 years experience of teaching high school and college math. I work well with students in a non threatening manner. I will receive my bachelors degree in mathematics from Purdue University in May 2012; however I began my college career in math education so I have taken many methods/teaching courses. In the past I have done short-term tutoring for algebra/pre-algebra, geometry, high school calculus (calc 1), and algebra II. My teaching style depends on the student. It takes some time to identify what methods work best on the individual. In most cases, the student just needs a clearer explanation than his/her book or instructor is providing. Also, I like to create visual examples that make an abstract concept into something more practical.
