Collaborative & Fun Teacher

I worked in the financial sector for 10 years and have a Master's Degree in Economics and Finance. Since then I have focused my efforts into freelance teaching, and have worked with students in a variety of subjects: chess, math, finance, language arts, history, piano, and writing, among others. Other subjects I’ve studied informally: literature, language, history, politics & government.
I believe that each student has a unique learning style of that must be discovered in real-time. Therefore I tailor the lessons towards an open, organic, collaborative process. I focus on small incremental steps designed to build momentum and flow states, which is the best way to start anything. My comments on tutoring Journalism : I was on the journalism team all four years of high school, serving as managaing editor, and sports editor, and was the only writer ot be granted free-lance editorial writing. I tutored at the mathew dickey's boys club working with grade school students ranging from the 2nd-4th grade. I would essentially go over all of their subjects with them and ensure that they not only completed their assignments but understood the material. In college at Iowa State University I tutored in both Anatomy & Physiology and Biochemistry. Although I have not worked specifically with students in need of writing skills, essay assignments - I was in journalism and wrote for the high school newspaper all four years and served as managing editor and sports editor. A Little Bit About Me...
