I recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and a Certificate in Computing which is one step down from a minor. The statistics degree program had a heavy emphasis in mathematics, so a lot of my course work contained math classes. I start out with discussing the area of weakness with the student and then try to investigate why this might be the area of weakness. Once this is discovered, I teach the student (through examples) until they understand the topic with which they need help. Then, I observe how they perform without my guidance and see if they have learned to complete problems solo.
