My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : am able to tutor elementary phonics in any teaching quadrant category for students needing this help.

I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. My specialty is literacy and reading, but I am also adept in teaching all of the math curricula as well. I also firmly believe that teaching organizational skills and proper research methodologies are very important for the classroom today--and every child needs these skills in order to excel in the classroom and survive. I am also a qualified art teacher in the NOVA area.

Education has always been my field of interest. When my children were young (8 and 4), I've been teaching in order to match my schedule with their school hours and vacations. My teaching style is simple. I start with the basics, then build on that each time I meet with the student. In addition, it is critical that the tutor is doing age-appropriate practice exercises with the student. In addition, there has to be a lot of variety. Students do get bored. I don't like to constantly use a worksheet. I would prefer to enhance the lesson with some hands-on activities, or games. It really makes a difference, especially with the younger students. I also believe in review, review, review. I don't want to move on unless I feel confident that the student has mastered the concept.
