My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Although I have not taken Pre-Algebra since middle school, the concepts are still known and I am experienced with them.

Although I do not have much experience with regards to tutoring, I often help my fellow peers with their homework and tutor them on the things that they struggle on. I am a strong student, currently #1 in my class, with straight A's with enrollment in Advanced Placement classes. Often times, my fellow peers come to me when their teacher is not accessible and need help regarding their classes. Of course, I'm always willing to help them because I want them to succeed.
My teaching style is flexible because every student learns differently. What I usually start out with is showing examples and having the student ask questions along the way. Then, I allow the student to try some problems as we work through them together.

My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : I have a successful history of preparing students for algebra. I provide an understanding of the concepts that increase their ability once they begin learning algebraic equations.

Denver Summer Scholars - Lead computer tutor - Taught 3 classes a day with 15 students in each class. I used computer software to tutor students in math and language arts. My students were ESL at Risk students. Tree of Knowledge - I tutored 15 students during the 2011 to 2012 school year in Language Arts and Math. My students increase their pre tutoring scores by a minimum of 25%. My students included at risk and special ed students in first to fifth grade. This was one on one tutoring. Math, Science, Writing, and Critical Thinking

My favorite part about teaching is the moment of sudden understanding that you can see in a student's eyes when they've got it. The challenge, of course, is getting to that moment, especially in a subject like math or science. While certain subjects may come easier to some people than to others, I do not believe that anyone is "incapable" of understanding and excelling in any field of study. If understanding is lacking, that is only because the student needs to be presented the material in a way that makes sense to them.

I was a technical instructor for an oil/gas company for just over 5 years. We focused on competency based training along with ensuring skills would transfer into the workplace. Prior to that, I graduated from a highly technical private engineering school with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. The school was on a trimester schedule so that we could finish a normal 5 year degree in only 4 years so it was a highly demanding program.
