My style of teaching includes visual explanation (white board or chalk board), oral discussion, and hands-on manipulation when ever possible. I try to use as many teaching styles as possible as not all students learn via the same means. My style is also fexible based on the student I am instructing (age or handicaps). While earning my bachelor's degree, I worked in several tutoring programs assisting students with reading comprehension and writing composition skills. I taught grammar to small groups, read one-on-one with third graders and assisted junior high school students with their homework assignments. Though my degree is in fine art, I began my undergraduate career as an English major. In high school I took both AP English exams and I went on an honors trip to England to study British literature. Also as a high school senior I took sixth place at the state speech tournament with an oratory that I wrote. Although I have a BS in Elementary Education, my experience ranges from preschool to high school. I have over two years’ experience teaching preschoolers basic reading and math skills. I have seven years’ experience teaching elementary school, where I have taught many children the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
