A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that there are no boring subjects, only boring teachers. I teach so others may learn to find interest. My heart races when I help someone learn. We are always learning, and I will always be a student. I am able to relate to people on that level, regardless of subject level. No one is born knowing this stuff, we learn through life. To teach is to learn. It must be nice to teach to teach. This is my goal.
As an undergraduate I tutored in the help center of WVSU. My last semester I had to choose between Biology and Chemistry, due to a schedule conflict, and I chose Chemistry. After graduating, I worked toward my PhD at Montana State University for two years. I worked my way through teaching labs, and completed 19 credit hours, before I had to move home for family reasons. I also worked in the help center during the day and held weekly study groups in the evenings.

I first gained experience as a tutor as a senior at Westminster College where I volunteered as a science tutor in the college's learning center. I spent my time tutoring students in the subjects of biology and chemistry. I graduated as valedictorian of my High School Class with a 4.0 GPA. I also graduated with a 4.0 from Westminster College in 2003. As a fourth year medical student I have a GPA of 3.98 and am ranked number two (2) in my class. I believe every child learns differently, and that the presentation of information must vary on a constant basis. In order to keep attention of learners, new techniques and methods must be constatnly implemented to actively teach students. I feel that students learn best when they trust their instructor, and feel secure in there environment.
After college graduation in 2006, I subsitute taught for a year in Pennsylvania for a year before moving to Maryland to persue a permanent teaching career. I taught technology education in grades 6-8 before moving to West Virginia to start a family. I truly love helping others especially when it comes to learning. Some students need that extra attention that they are not receiving in the classroom and I would love to be able to help them in anyway I can. A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned two bachelor degrees from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Computer Science. I received an A in every math class that I took including but not limited to statistics, linear algebra, multi-variable calculus, numerical analysis, and differential equations . I was also the Computer Science senior of the year in 2008. Most of my work experience is in computer science research, but I do have roughly a year of official experience tutoring in the computer lab and the math tutorial lab at WVU Institute of Technology. As well as several years of unofficial tutoring experience in topics ranging from economics to physics.
