I am a second year Professional Writing student at the University of Oklahoma studying creative writing and film. I graduated from James Martin High School in June of 2012 as a prestige three-year graduate on the honor roll. While in high school I was a student teacher for the drama department, on our Literary Magazine staff, Newspaper staff, Yearbook staff, and president of the Journalism club.

Teaching has been something I have done a great deal of my life no matter what path I was on. When I was in nursing school, patient teaching was a strong point of mine. I love children. I am graduating in May 2010 with a undergraduate degree in English Education. I have worked in several school districts as tutor, observer, and student teaching. I have personally worked in the following areas: Speech/Drama, English, and Middle school tutoring. I have worked with students in the 6-12 grades. Even as a kid, I loved to teach and to learn. And one of the most important things that I've learned is that teaching isn't about asking someone to remember facts; instead, it is about giving them tools to help them think so that those facts mean something. I like the one on one aspect of tutoring. I enjoy teaching, but I really like tutoring because I get to know the child and am able to help him/her with his or her specific area of need. I like to make learning fun by playing learning games with the student. I am a Christian and I believe all children are unique and have their own abilities. I believe a child can accomplish anything to the best of their ability if he or she puts his or her all into it. I want to see children succeed and feel confident in who they are as a person.
