Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.

A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my life I have tried to acquire a knowledge of the world around me. To meet this end, I was an English major with a Bachelors of Science degree and then I received a Masters in Geography. After school I worked with the U.S. Geological Survey studying water quality. While I loved this work and it taught me how to be a hard scientist, there was something missing.
