My comments on tutoring LSAT : Wyzant certified LSAT tutor. I was top 5% of my 1st year class at the University of Florida College of Law, and graded on to the Law Review as a result. I have worked with nearly two dozen students on the LSAT and have an approach that is constantly calibrated to your needs.

I bring a friendly and patient approach to tutoring. I know hiring a tutor can be a challenging process and a tough decision to make. Accordingly, I promise to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible, while ensuring you (or your child) truly understand the material. I owe it to my students to make the material fun and interesting.
I have over 5000 hours (nearly 10 years) of tutoring experience, including the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT and other selected subjects. I have been helping high school and college students get accepted to undergraduate and graduate programs all over the United States, including UF, Michigan, Stanford, FSU, UCF, and many others. Experienced Math, Business and Standardized Test tutor

I have tutored math, business and science courses for high school students and adults for the last 20 years. I have tutored for standardized tests (ASVAB, FCAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc) for the last 15 years - saving parents many thousands of dollars in tuition fees. I have also assisted students with homework help, time management and study skills.
I use the material that the student is familiar with to enhance the students understanding of the principles and processes that are being emphasized. I bring supplemental material for the subject area and use it as needed. Primarily, the student works problems or exercises that are required in front of me. The student verbalizes the steps and thinking processes about the subject so that I can correct fundamentals and errors in logic.

Even though I have been very active in the performing arts, teaching is my primary passion. I received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. However, I completed a Ph.D. in Education at the University of Florida in 1990. I was a full-time special needs teacher at Oak Park School in Sarasota, Florida from 1998 until 2006. I was responsible for teaching elementary, middle school, and high school grade levels. It was a very rewarding job and gave me experience in many different areas in education. Since retiring from Oak Park I have spent a considerable amount of time tutoring in several different areas, including English, history, and math.

While I was employed as a writing tutor in college, I was also taking additional courses to improve my skill set as a tutor. We focused on interpersonal communication and reaching out to students regardless of any baggage brought into the tutoring session. I worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant for my faculty advisor, and towards the end of my college career, I took a great interest in French, quickly surpassing all of the other students in my classes. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.95 overall GPA and 4.0 GPA in-major. I will be attending Stetson University College of Law in January and would love to begin work tutoring as I have just moved to the area and find that one-on-one interaction is one of my strong suits along with a love for learning and teaching.

My teaching style is one of patience and encouragement. Not every student learns at the same pace. It is important to me to analyze the student's style of learning and try to comprehend where they might be having trouble understanding the concept or problem. For example, if the student has trouble with spelling, it might make sentence comprehension difficult. It is important to me never to berate a student or lose patience with them. I do not believe students can learn well under stress.
I have three years teaching experience, mainly with disadvantaged populations, and five years tutoring experience. My rigorous teaching experience gives me the advantage of being able to work with any type of student with patience and courtesy. My time as an undergraduate at Duke University sharpened my intellect to an incredible degree. At Duke, I obtained a BA in Public Policy, a minor in Economics and graduated Magna Cum Laude. The rigorous academic environment at Duke taught me vital study skills while pushing me to improve my writing abilities and problem solving skills. I was further fortunate enough at Duke to have the opportunity to serve as a Teaching Assistant for both an undergraduate and graduate level course in policy analysis. The course was writing intensive, giving me experience in editing others work.
I believe one of the most vital components of teaching revolves around guiding the child to find a sense of accomplishment in their work. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I discovered along the way that my true passion was teaching and I can be more effective in a tutoring one-on-one situation than a classroom setting. I am highly proficient and have tutored nearly all subjects and grade levels.
Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way.

A Little Bit About Me...

After 33 years of trial law, I decided to teach full time. I have taught various classes off and on since 1972. I have tutored students for the last two years, including 15 middle school english and math students this last year in Hernando County. I also helped these students with science, geography, and social sciences. I now live in Tampa.
All children can learn if properly motivated. I use a modified socratic method of teaching, engaging the child in a dialogue about the subject matter. We explore together using books and the internet to find answers. All of my students improved in their school work in a dramatic fashion. Some saw their grades jump as much as 60%.
