The purpose of my teaching is to allow every student to succeed. I will try any way possible to reach this goal for every child. Working in the sciences, I feel that inquiry learning is important and hands-on experience is essential. Each student has their own way of learning best and I try to find that learning style and use it whenever possible. I graduated from IUP with a degree in Biology Education. I am certified in Biology and Middle School Science. I taught for one semester at Central Bucks School District where I taught Academic Biology, Astronomy and Oceanography. I then taught two years at Gateway School District where I taught 8th grade physical science. I now have a permanent position at Yough School District where I teach 7th grade Life Science. Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I worked one on one with students helping them with math, reading, and science skills. I assisted in classroom teaching of mini lessons too. I also helped with their after-school program, I also created supplemental study guides and multimedia software to help students to improve their study skills. As a first generation college student, I appreciated when teachers made me feel special, and I try to do the same. I was a Resident Assistant and Wellness Coordinator for a dormitory at WVU for three years, where I received a Resident Assistant of the Year Award. I currently teach four sections of general biology lab and two sections of comparative anatomy lab.
