Dr. Griffith Garland studied engineering physics as an undergraduate at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, pioneering the program by being a member of the first class to graduate with that degree. She was twice a member of Who's Who Among American College and University Students and graduated summa cum laude. She put herself through college by tutoring students, working as a teaching assistant, and becoming the training manager at the University's computer lab. I love working with children. I especially love teaching them about science and mathematics because I find these subjects so interesting. There are few things more rewarding then seeing it all "click." I like to use diagrams and real life situations to explain subjects. For 1:1 tutoring my teaching style will vary depending on the individual's needs and the topic covered. I try to work at the student’s learning pace in an effort to allow the student time to comprehend and retain what is covered within the session. I am not interested in helping others learn what I know (and love) to find out later that I was "too fast" for them to use the information after the session. Covering any topic outside their natural pace is a complete waste of everyone's time.

As an educator, I strive to improve the student's study habits, test taking skills and overall understanding of the subject. I am patient and encourage questions from the student. Also, I believe that "hands on" practice is the best way to really learn a subject. I like to break things down into smaller parts and let the student practice and grasp each concept instead of just showing them how to do it. Repetition is important to the learning process, so I frequently use practice problems to reinforce the daily lesson.
