I hold a bachelor of science in Biology (cum laude) from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where I studied Molecular and Cell Biology and completed all coursework required of the Ph.D. Since graduate school, I have over 10 years of biology research experience in both academic and biotech settings. My research, teaching and training experience covers the entirety of essential topics in biology and chemistry. My German parents spoke (so-called "high", or proper) German at home in NY/NJ, which came in handy after we moved overseas when I was 13. Repeating 7th grade, I learned to read and write German fluently, as well as master the local dialects and sundry colloquialisms without a lingering accent. Doing so allowed me mask my heritage, enroll in higher education, and learn a trade, culminating in a long and rewarding all-encompassing painting career abroad and in the eastern US, before settling in Texas to explore telecommunications. I widely regard the world as a large classroom/laboratory.
My teaching style with my own children is conversational, hands-on, and intuitive. I explore what most captures their attention, then weave in the lessons by using any available teaching aids, such as whiteboard drawings, to illustrate a point, literally.
