I homeschool my children in math, art and science. They ask question about a subject and I give them answers to their questions. If I do not know the answer, I then teach them how to look up the answer or work it out from fundamental assumptions. By having them approach me their interest level is peaked and them retain the information. I learned in graduate school how to learn which I then pass along to my students. I taught advance instrument design at Stanford University using laser detection technology. The two semsters involved handles on generation of working prototypes. During my time as an graduate student, I tutored undergraduate classes in organic and math while I was a Teachers Assistant for the General Chemistry classes.
