Helping students learn and learn how to grow

My teaching experience is broad across subjects and age levels. Learning and teaching excite me and I like to think that attitude rubs off on my students. It can be fun to learn, and even those subjects a student does not find enjoyable, can prove satisfying. I've taught middle school and high school, as well as at Bellevue College, Renton technical College, and North Seattle Community College. My comments on tutoring Spelling : Reading continuously aids in the art of spelling. Both novels I have written were uploaded to Smashwords Premium Catalog shelf as a result of 0% spelling and grammatical mistakes.

I spent thirteen years in college, and participated in many study groups. Every group has a person who leads, I have generally taken that role. I have also chosen professions where working in groups is the norm. I enjoy active problem solving, looking at all potential solutions, and digging for the best. I think these skills have lead me to being an exemplary employee. Officially I have only served as a tutor on a volunteer basis; for the last six years I have primarily dealt with elementary school aged children. However, I believe that I have more than sufficient skills to deal with all students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm currently a student in school who has had a wide range of experience in various different subjects, specifically working best with mathematics, science and language arts in the elementary and middle school level. I'm familiar with I've been doing my best to educate myself in as best as I can, not simply for the sole purpose of filling a resume, but for the sake of learning.
When I teach, I try my best to be open minded, and to give choices to the student, rather than follow a closed-box cookie cutter curriculum. I've found it's important to find a personal way of learning for a specific student. Variety is important, because every child learns a little differently. Some kids learn by listening, others by seeing. Some kids learn only when they're making things. Encouragement and recognition when progress is attained by the student is a great incentive.

Tutor for the summer

I use the iPad (excellent resource) books, worksheets and materials I make to fit the situation.
I am a speech therapist with 11 years and experience. I have worked with students pre-k through 12th grade, primarily pre-k through 5th grade.
