Ever since I was in the 5th grade I have known I wanted to teach. I spent my undergraduate career building a foundation of knowledge for this goal and got involved in tutoring a variety of students. I even taught a class of girls at the local juvenile prison. I earned my BA and went straight to my M.Ed, building even more on my already strong foundation. I've worked with all kinds of students at all ability levels and ages. During my time at UMCP I even worked at a childhood development center with kids from infancy up to age 12. Teaching is a great way to educate and to learn. As a tutor, first, I see the student’s understanding level. I plan ahead of time and prepare proper material. However, if the material is provided, I find effective methods of teaching, and teach each student accordingly. It’s obvious that some techniques work better for some students but not others. I have worked as an administrator in charge of a tutoring program where I hired math and reading tutors. My experience included training and mentoring tutors hired in the program. Also, I have worked as a 7th grade math teacher and 8th grade pre-algebra teacher for one year. This included writing lesson plans, teaching basic math and pre-algebraic math concepts, grading papers and attending team meetings.

Florida Writes is designed to measure students' proficiency in writing responses to assigned topics within a designated testing period. Find your tutor now. Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged.
