My comments on tutoring Elementary : I have home schooled two daughters from first grade into the high school level, including one who began without a knowledge of the English language.

Lead the student to find the right answer himself or herself if possible.
I have done private tutoring of high school students in math from pre-algebra to calculus and in other subjects. I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. From then on, I helped and even eventually taught my younger siblings when the current school system left them in the dust, and even helped them get a leg up and advance faster than their classmates. Certified Teacher

I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.
I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! My comments on tutoring Elementary : I am familiar with the public school standards and required skills for students through first grade.

I believe a classroom for young children should provide a warm, accepting, and challenging environment.
