I aim to work with people, by basically a read of the person and then testing them if I need more information. This then gives me the opportunity to relate to them on the many levels an effective teacher has to relate to make the child successful. The idea is to figure out what works on a given student and take their strengths and develop them. This is best done on a case by case basis and focusing in on improvising to cater the lesson to their desires. "If you're not on your toes here, you're not doing it right" is my motto.

I have taught internship classes and tutored statistics at the University level. I have tutored mathematics from elementary to calculus at a junior college. Geometry is one of my top subjects!

Don't tell me 2+2=4. Tell me WHY 2+2=4.

My teaching style differs with each child. One child does well learning by applying the material to real live situations Another does better with breaking it down and just memorizing facts I am very flexible and make an effort to find the best method to save both myself and the child time that would otherwise be wasted with an ineffective approach to learning.
Although I wish I could count the endless amount of time I spent playing teacher as a child, I know parents are looking for more expierence than an eight year old and her dolls. From January of 2002 to June 2008 I taught rock climbing classes for Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon. These were 1 credit PE classes that covered beginning, intermediate and advanced rock climbing. I prepared lessons, gave lectures, supervised student practice and assessed student performance. In addition during the 2003/03 I tutored students in Geology and Mathematics while I attended Clackamas Community College.
My teaching style is easy going and less formal. I know that each student learns best in a unique way. I feel that the most effective teachers try to mold their teaching style to the student rather than the other way around. Also I like to make sure that the student learns how the particular information being taught fits in the larger field of study. I find this greatly enhances retention of information and the ability to use that information.

A Little Bit About Me...

I started as an Adjunct Instructor at ISU for the Geomatics Engineering program for the 2007-2008 school year. Prepare for class setup the curriculum, homework, grading and test for 10-12 students. I went to ITT Technical Institute following that and was offered to Chair School of Drafting & Design. I taught and ran the department for 2 years. I was in charge of 4-10 teachers and 170+ students.
I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some. Are they a visual learner I draw pictures, maps, charts and video; if an audio learner tapes, lecture, youtube, video, etc,.. and if a kinesthetic learner then they need the hands on experience to develop the learning that is needed, so then standing back to guide the thought process without doing it for them.
