When teaching to a group, ideally all styles would be touched on (auditory, visual, hands-on). When working one-on-one, though, it is possible to teach towards that individual's particular style of learning. This works so much better than a one-size-fits-all method of teaching. If one way of teaching isn't working, I search for a different approach, until I find one that works. I try to explain concepts using ideas and terms that the student is familiar with. I taught for 8 years in a Title 1 Elementary school in North Fort Myers. The population was and still is over 90% free and reduced lunch. I taught 4th and 5th grades for 4 years and then taught science as an exploratory to all of the students for 4 years.
