A Little Bit About Me...

I am a retired classroom teacher from Michigan Public School Systems, with 30 plus years teaching experience. I have experience at all levels (7-12) of English, Speech Education, and Drama. I have also have two years experience in the areas of ESL/ELL with my previous school district. I have taught primarily at the high school level, and during that time, I taught 9th, 10th grade Language Arts, 9-12 Theatre, and 9-12 Speech classes. Since retiring, I worked with a local government grant program for youthful offenders, teaching GED classes and preparation for the FCAT exam. Reading and English were my focus.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I discovered along the way that my true passion was teaching and I can be more effective in a tutoring one-on-one situation than a classroom setting. I am highly proficient and have tutored nearly all subjects and grade levels.
Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My teaching style is based on; first instilling in the student that they "can" learn and there is nothing they cannot achieve. I teach them through building on successes and the skills they already know, then introduce new skills and practice applying them to real life situations where this step allows the students to see the relevancy of what they are doing.
