It has been my experience that each student has his/her individuals needs and that each learns differently. Thus, I make a conscious effort to sit down privately with each of my students so that we can address his/her concerns effectively and put together a constructive plan to improve his/her skill set.
As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth. Majoring in communications in college exposed me to a variety of literature. I took classes in English, script writing, and literature. I also learned about vocal production and public speaking. As I earned a Master of Arts in the dramatic performance field, I taught freshman students a basic speech course for two years. After graduation, I continued onto college faculty and taught for two more years teaching public speaking, voice and communication, and drama courses. I also honed my writing skills as a graduate student analyzing literature and writing an original play as part of my final project.
