I do not consider myself a teacher but a helper. In my experience, the Socratic method in which I pose probing questions that unlock the student's knowledge is the strongest approach. A student's retention of the material is strongest when the student can teach it, and that's what I aim for. I break down any material the student doesn't understand into terms that are easier to comprehend. Preparedness is expected on the part of the student. A Little Bit About Me...

I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught.
While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina. I began tutoring as a volunteer with the America Reads program in high school. I continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club during college. After an opportunity to assist a professor in administering a freshman course, I applied to teach high school in Pasco County. I taught world history and psychology for one year before returning to school for my Master of Arts degree in History. However I provided assistance to the teachers and mentored the children that had potential, but didn't have the extra push in life to motivate them to be more.
