More About This Tutor...

My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. After graduating with a 4.0 from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, AL, I went to Auburn University to pursue an Industrial and Systems Engineering degree. After a few years of working as an Engineer with Alabama Power Company, I studied to earn my Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.I believe that having a broad knowledge of all subjects is very important. A few years ago, I decided to leave my corporate job and stay at home to raise my child. I had always loved teaching, so I began to work on my teaching degree online. I am currently in school to go back and teach high school math. I am a bit of a math nerd but LOVE to read, so I enjoy English as well. I specialize in teaching math and English at all levels. Biology and Chemistry Tutoring

Hello, I am a recent UAB graduate. I graduated May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with minor's in Psychology and Chemistry. I am currently in the process of applying to dental schools. Although I've had no previous experience as a paid tutor, I often get asked by fellow classmates for help with these sciences. Also I volunteer at an Elementary school in Fairfield, AL through the non-profit organization Better Basics. So I am already accustomed to working/helping younger kids (K-6th) do homework and prepare for tests. My younger brother is a sophomore in high school so I feel capable of helping high school ages as well. As I mentioned earlier, most of my tutoring experience comes from helping fellow college classmates and I am confident I can help you or your child achieve the grades desired, regardless of age.

Teaching you to "Learn How to Learn"

I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in graphic design and have also worked in the graphic design field for over 5 years. My experience includes designing for medical schools, non-profits, athletic facilities, the state government, and also freelance work. During graduate school, I was an instructor for beginning graphic design classes for college students.
There are so many things that can be learned in the field of graphic design; therefore, my teaching style is to teach you how to "learn how to learn". Software and skills are constantly updated and outdated so learning how to acquire knowledge, skills or software is key. I also like to make it as fun as I can and teach at the speed the student is willing to learn.

Academic Associates Reading Center

I believe all students can become successful readers with positive, engaging instruction.
I am am a certified Reading Instruction Specialist and former fourth grade teacher. Most students rise 2-4 grade levels in under 50 hours of instruction using the Academic Associates Reading Program. The Academic Associates curriculum is a 13 lesson brain-based phonics curriculum. One of my favorite success stories is a student I'll call Mark. After completing only 7 lessons, Mark went from a 1.9 reading level to a 3.5 reading level. Because of his previous struggles in reading, the school he attended planned to retain him in the second grade. After only 2 months of instruction, the school called his mother to let her know that he would not be retained because of the remarkable improvement in his reading. Learning to read properly not only helped improve his grade, but prevented his being held ... read more

YOUR SUCCESS IS MY NUMBER ONE PRIORITY !!!

I am experienced in working with children, for over 3 or 4 years. I love working with them to help understand and comprehend the subject matter.
