A Little Bit About Me...

I love the one on one interaction a tutor has with the students. I believe all children have a unique style of learning and we need to help them find their own way of learning. For example some kids are visual learners, while others are hearing learners. My work as a tutor is to see which method is the best for them. I am very patience with my students. Some students just need a little bit of guidance to help raise their self esteem and I am sure with our help they are going to be well prepared for college.
I have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in environmental engineering. I traveled for a year with a family and home-schooled their 3 children. The children were in 1st grade, kindergarten, and pre-school and were seriously below grade level in math and reading. In that year, I brought those children beyond grade level in reading skills and comprehension as well as math skills. I have also been a teacher's assistant in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms and have gone through student teaching in the 3rd and 6th grade in order to complete my degree. I have had most of my experience with the elementary age-group but I also feel confident working through some middle school and high school material.
