I am firm but like to use students life experiences and hobbies to teach them subjects. Younger students I like to teach through play due to the fact that I am a firm believer that children learn through play. I have been studying education since my high school graduation in hopes of one day being the choir director at my high school.At the moment I am a student at UTEP studying bilingual elementary education and plan to receive a masters in music education after receiving my bachelors degree. I am currently a subsitute teacher and am hoping to continue helping students with their studies in the summer and weekends. I have a lot of experience tutoring elementary children, ages 6-11. I have a bit of experience teaching middle schoolers and high schoolers, though not as much as elementary. I am currently an Education major with a minor in history. I am also considering a degree in music and English. Generally I tutor in reading and writing. I worked as a research assistant at Arizona State University until I graduated with my Bachelor's Degrees in psychology. This allowed me a great deal of hands on experience in applying mathematical and scientific principles in gathering data and doing statistical regressions. I have also worked as tutor independently for about the last 5 years, primarily in math and science for high school and college student. i have also helped with test prep for sat and ASVAB. No two people are alike, so my teaching style is to find out what a person's style of understanding is, and to frame my teaching around that. My experience as a tutor has made me realize how much I enjoy tutoring. Science is my passion and I like sharing the knowledge that I have with those who need a little bit more help in. I'm not going to lie; I hated school when I was younger. Some people might think this a drawback when hiring someone as a tutor, but I think it has made me more sympathetic to students who struggle, who don't enjoy school and who need someone to give them a reason to excel. I also can inspire students who are modivated and open up new worlds to them and make learning fun. I love reading and writing, history and theatre, art and science and everything else in between.
