Physics - Clearing Up A Murky Subject

I'm generally a fun, happy person, not the classic awkward engineer. :) I'd love to turn a student's "trouble subject" into a point of personal accomplishment, through tutoring that he/she will actually enjoy. I think tutoring comes easily to me because my mind sees multiple ways to understand each problem, which allows me to alter my explanation based on the student's personal understanding. Each of us learns and thinks quite differently, so I enjoy being able to present the material in a way that catches the interest of the student. I really enjoy working with young teens. I have worked in high schools for 25 years in Virginia and West Virginia. I have always had good rapport with teens and have enjoyed interacting with them. I have been trained in the Constructivist approach to teaching, but have had to change my style of teaching in order to cover materials necessary for SOL testing in recent years. A Little Bit About Me...

I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless. I believe that one should teach using a variety of methods because all kids do not learn the same way and each individual method shows something new each time.
