My teaching style is one focused on hands on. I set up one class in Del Mar where the students developed a Web site for an outside nonpropfit client for free in one semester. This was well received, provided good experience to students and built good relationship between education and local industry. I loved moving from working in industry with computers to be teaching how to used them. The one on one experience with students teaching them to become computer experts was challenging and very exciting. Helping a student to progress is great and very rewarding.
I worked in industry with computers the first 20 years of my career in Caracas, Venezuela. Every child can learn, it just takes a good teacher to help make that happen. A teacher must assess each student for their learning style, ability, and readiness. I want to get to know my students so that I can better understand what motivates them to succeed and develop positive relationships. I care about all students and want to make a difference.
While pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, I volunteered my time at the Boys and Girls Club of America and tutored students of all ages in reading, math, science, and social studies. I am currently completing an alternative certification program for Texas teacher certification, and I am highly qualified to teach early childhood to sixth grade.
