A Little Bit About Me...

There are two main avenues I emphasize in the classroom: Literacy and Writing. With over 7 years teaching experience, I am well versed in preparing students for the NYS ELA, English Regents, AP English Examinations and Verbal SAT along with college entrance applications. Furthermore, my teaching experience and knowledge has increased student growth for NYS High School and College Placement. Finally, I am a committee member of the RTI: Response to Intervention. My position within the committee trains teachers on the RTI process. I advise, assist and help with creating initial assessments and quarterly benchmarks for ELA to monitor student growth.

I worked as an in home private ABA therapist for two separate families, each with a child with autism. I worked individually with both children approximately 8-12 hours per week for over a year. I taught in a traditional ABA classroom with six students on the autism spectrum and all with other severe disabilities. I have also volunteered for many years as a bible school teacher.
I would have to say that my teaching style is flexibility. I believe that it is necessary to gauge your students as a group and individually before deciding on which teaching methods would be most effective. I believe that naturalistic teaching is important.
