German I have studied German for 7 years. I began in the 8th grade, from there it quickly became a hobby of mine. After freshman year of high school I spent 3 weeks in Holzkirchen, at a language school. When I returned I skipped a year of German. Finding that not challenging enough, I skipped yet another year over winter break. So, by spring of my sophomore year, I was in AP German with seniors. I scored a 4 on the AP exam and beginning in the fall of my Junior year I began taking classes and University of Nebraska - Omaha. It was in my junior year I applied for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange. I won and spent my entire senior year of high school at Martin Luther Gymnasium in Hartha, Germany. A Little Bit About Me...

The process is just as important as the product. If a student can come up with the correct answer, but he or she has no idea how or why it is correct or how they got it, I feel like their learning is incomplete. Especially in Math, but also in many other subjects, concepts build upon each other. For this reason, I like to explain not just *how* to get there, but also *why* we got that answer; then students have a firmer foundation for the trickier concepts. I love seeing the lightbulb "go on," when kids finally "get it."
