I find teaching to be an extremely rewarding activity. I immensely enjoy the process of finding the best ways to reach a particular child, especially one who is struggling with a given subject or concept. Finding ways to remove the fear of math or apathy towards learning in general and developing in the child an appreciation for of a historical perspective the are just some of the goals a good educator needs to have in mind. The biggest thing for me when teaching younger kids is patience. I never expect them to know something just because I do; they pick up on frustration which only makes them frustrated themselves. I believe that kids have the capacity to learn anything they please, and I do my best to transfer this belief to them. I never place myself on a pedestal with them, rather I make an effort to ensure that we see eye to eye. I respect them, and they offer me the same in return.
