I have always loved working with children. Through my experience as a special education instructor, I have learned children can learn in a variety of ways. My teaching philosophy is that each child has different strengths, and it is imperative to tailor an educational program to these strengths. I am a traditional(old school)style teacher. A professor told us "You cannot teach them if you do not have their attention." Treat the students the way you want to be treated, with respect and honesty. My three rules are: Respect for oneself. Respect for others. Responsibility for your actions. With this in place, the subject is introduced, explanations/examples discussed, questions answered, the assignment given, with the understanding if it is not finished in class it is homework. I then walk around the classroom to make sure each student understands the material or needs individual help.
