Well everyone, I would like to mention that I am attending MSUB and I am working towards obtaining a math degree. I also tutor at the college where I help students with various levels of college math. My experiences vary from tutoring to being an aide at my local high school. I have enough math credits to be a high school math teacher, although I am not an accredited teacher. I am a consulting engineer, but have always enjoyed teaching. I have been substitute teaching for mostly high school math the last 3 years. I have been in the engineering field since 1989. I always enjoy my days in the school and teaching. I feel that I am good at teaching. It is what I spent my first 2 years of college studying before switching to engineering. I make sure the kids feel safe in their environment, so learning becomes the primary focus. I try to make learning fun and try to show the students that it isn't really that difficult.

I recently retired from teaching but have a love of math and working with students. Presently that makes accessible to tutor students any time day or night. I believe that my patience is my biggest strength in working with students having difficulties in math. My experiences over the years has taught me that not every student learns the same way so that same material must be presented in variety of ways until the student gets it. As a science educator I strive to have students build their own knowledge with my guidance. I adhere to the constructivist philosophy of education and in doing so I have designed many lessons with the inquiry approach in mind. This forces students to begin to think for themselves and allows them to take ownership over their learning. With a bachelor degree in biology and a follow up minor in chemistry i am well versed in both the life and physical sciences. I am broadfield science certified through the state of Montana which enables me to teach any science course 5-12. I have been a classroom teacher for the past nine years and have extensive experience using technology as a teaching tool. I am very proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
