I prefer on-on-one but will also tutor small groups (2, 3, 4 etc.). I usually work with students on the UNM campus or ABQ libraries, but I also like in-home tutoring (your or mine!).

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored most of the Math and Science courses at Glendale Community College for four years, tutored troubled teens at the YWCA during the same time period, taught Algebra at Gerard Catholic High School for one year, and tutored around the valley for several additional years. I am convinced, partly because of my own experiences, that the current educational system best serves the needs of the average student. I also believe that it seldom addresses the needs of those students whose learning style is not a good fit with the one size fits all educational system. This may be for a wide variety of reasons, but the result is that the student is left without the needed skill set to compete and what’s worse, left with the message that they are responsible for "not getting it" and are inferior or stupid in some respect. I nearly flunked junior high pre-algebra, and was a mediocre math student in high school. I eventually managed to teach myself, and have subsequently scored 800 on the math section of the GRE and was one of about 50/15000 to score a perfect 15 on the quantitative section of the medical college admission test (MCAT). A Little Bit About Me...

Thanks to my education in psychology at Brown University, I have gleaned much wisdom about the workings of human behavior as well as the human psyche. I have been able to observe applications of what I've learned throughout my daily life. This is especially helpful in teaching; I can recognize the various personalities and the accompanying learning styles in the students, which enable me to be able to appropriately adjust how I present the material. Since I was 17, I've been tutoring and teaching a broad range of ages, from young tykes, to professionals, to retirees.
