Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I was a teaching assistant throughout high school. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi. I was selected to teach intensive intervention and pursued my Master’s degree with a concentration in remedial reading. Typing Skills is one of my top subjects! The world increasingly relies on the ability to type quickly and to be able to proofread and edit documents. I will teach time saving techniques, and keyboard hotkeys for Windows. Hotkeys often go overlooked by the average computer user, I will show you how to use them and a few tips to memorize these time saving shortcuts. Also, I can show you how to set your hotkeys for many programs.

I go with the styles that fit the student. I generally use the first couple of visits to assess what works best for the student and then work with the student in a calm and patient yet firm manner. I do not try to force results, every student learns differently and has different aptitudes. Therefore, it wiser not to push the student too hard for results, rather I push myself to find new and inventive ways to help students learn the material.
