I have the natural ability to draw since childhood and keep with it for the sake of enjoyment. However, I always believe what works best is what they taught me in the Navy, that in order to truly learn how to do something then you must "see one, do one, and teach one." Studied Studio Art at the University of Arizona. I am a professional artist with works sold and shows in Galveston, Texas. I have taught at both the middle and high school level in the subject of English. I think it takes a lot for one teacher to reach all of types of students who are all at different levels of interest in the subject being taught as well as at different levels of understanding. However, I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to give them all equal opportunity to learn. It is not just about grades and assignments, that is just the means to an end, but it is about learning. In order for the students to learn, the teacher needs to be passionate about the students as well as the subject that is being taught. That will instill in the students a desire to learn and understand. In having a science background, I have not only learned laboratory skills and reasoning skills, but I have learned how to increase efficiency, communicate in a clear manner, and write in a way that is direct and clear.
