The most important thing about my teaching style is that I believe every child can achieve academic excellence and can be interested in learning. I believe that it is up to me, as a teacher or a tutor, to engage the student(s). A huge part of this is being very transparent about where the student starts, what our goals are for where they are going, and how they are doing along the way. I love working with students to figure out what gets them excited and how they learn best so I can incorporate these strategies into my teaching. I am a student of history and believe that knowledge acquisition comes from interest and enthusiasm on the part of the learner. This interest comes from having an instructor who them selves is a learner. A partnership in the tasks being presented usually results in the student wanting to understand the information and making connections. To promote critical thinking I present the material in a global manner, allowing the learner to relate the information/skill to the real-world.
